Machine Knit Sideways for Workshop
Machine Knitting Workshop, new Sample
My newest creation, designed by me, and machine knit by me.
I taught a hands-on workshop, and this is my sample. Knit sideways, this style can be knit on any knitting machine and will accommodate all sizes.
My sample was knit on an LK150.
I used an “unknown” fiber and I know it contains some acrylic, but when I steamed my swatch the unmistakable smell of wool was evident. This yarn choice makes for a cozy pull-over vest.
Choosing a cotton or cotton blend would result in a lovely summer pullover.
The shape is pretty simple, and I designed a textured trim for the neck, armholes and hem.
I taught this to a great group of ladies in Lindsay Ontario, and will have the instructions ready for sale in a few weeks.
What do you think of it? Have you made something similar?
That’s a very pretty , easy to wear top! Well done !
It almost makes me wish I were still machine knitting …my machines would probably appreciate being used ????????
thank you Mary, I’m really looking forward to the workshop, and enjoyed knitting the sample.
Yvonne, I was happy to see your new posting on the Plastic Midguage Knitting Machine group. I have recently set up my LK150 after being away from it for a while. I see that you still have some parts and accessories. Do you have any LK150 sponge bars? I couldn’t see any advertised on The Yarn Guys web page. I have forgotten a lot and need to really brush up on using my machine. Your sideway knit sweater looks very interesting.
Thank you so much.
Pat
Hi Pat, it is great to see you’re using your machine(s). Please contact me at yvettechilcott(at)yahoo(dot)ca to enquire about parts. I have quite a bit of stock, including some refurbished used knitting machines.
I am brand new to machine knitting as my hands gave out after 25 years as a hand knitter. I want to learn machine knitting quickly and have a specific side to side hand knit pattern I want to make many of. Do you have a workshop for that goal or what do you suggest I do?
Also, the side to side pattern requires garter stitch. Can that be done? It’s an easy pattern.
Hi Connie, step 1 is learning how to use your machine 🙂 Then you’ll know what it’s capable of, and you’ll be able to adapt a hand-knit pattern. Garter stitch is hand manipulated, and tedious. btw, what model of knitting machine do you have?
