As a Jalie Creative Ambassador, I received these patterns at no charge so that I could sew samples and review them.  My opinions are honest and my own.  If I didn’t like the pattern I wouldn’t have chosen it, and this review will reflect my sewing experiences.

Nicole #3903, (I made 2)

front cover of Nicole, one of the latest Jalie sewing patterns

Sewing pattern for top, tunic and dress, fitted through shoulder and bust, semi fitted from the waist down.

  • A dart at the bust in adult sizes makes adjustments easy.
  • The pattern includes two sleeve options: short or long, three neckline options: hemmed, banded or funnel neck.
  • A very quick and easy sewing project!

Who doesn’t need a basic t-shirt pattern in their lives?  With bust darts?  Oh yes, bust darts! It’s all about style and fit.  From casual to elegant, from hip to tunic to dress, and in 28 sizes.  My first make was from an “unknown fiber” in a wide rib knit from Fabricland.  I started by making the tunic length, but after wearing it for a day, felt the fabric was too soft and clung in undesirable places, so I shortened it to “top length”.  A much nicer look, and combined with a pair of Eleonore capris, (buy the pattern here),  I’m ready for warmer weather.

My second “make” was also an “unknown fiber” from Fabricland, a 2 x 2 rib in a cotton/poly in white. This time I chose to finish the (lowered) neckline with a hem, and if this fabric had behaved better it would have been finished in less than an hour.

I’ve written a separate post describing my neckline nightmare, click here to read it.

Simone #3908

front cover of Simone, one of the new sewing patterns from Jalie

sewing pattern for pull-on fluid shorts and wide-leg pants.

  • Elasticized back, front pleats and ribbon belt that ties in the front.
  • Slant front pocket.
  • The perfect pattern for hot summer days!

I made 2 of these pants, the first in very slippery and thin polyester chiffon, then the second in cool tie-dye cotton with embroidery along 1 selvage.  I love them both!  Why?

  • the elastic back waist
  • the deep pockets
  • the tie front
  • the looseness and comfort.

I wore the embroidered pair to our quilt guild meeting on Wednesday and received sooooooo many compliments!  I’m really happy that I chose these sewing patterns and plan to make more.
