Bill’s Shorts Again Jalie 2107

Bill’s Shorts Fit!

Success!  Bill’s shorts fit!  In a previous post, I shared my experience with this great pattern, Jalie 2107.  I also mentioned that the first pair was too tight in the waist.  Boo hoo.

Fortunately, I had enough of that same cotton twill to make a larger pair. I started by selecting the size by his waist measurement, then graded down one size for the hips.  Jalie’s multi-sized patterns make grading so easy.

I “stole” the pockets off the first pair and re-used them.  That saved sew much time!

I love how the twin-needle top-stitching accents the pocket flaps and seams.  You’ll notice that I used velcro instead of buttons and buttonholes on the pocket flaps, they’re much easier for my hubby’s arthritic fingers.

What will I Sew Next?

My next project for Bill will use this same pattern in a piece of quick-drying navy twill and will be long pants.  These fit him well, therefore it should be a quick sew.

Have you sewn pants or shorts for the guys in your life?

I loved making these, and so look forward to sewing this pattern again.

But first, I have one more garment to sew up before the Distinctive Sewing Supplies Retreat, November 19-21.
