Victor (swim) Shorts for my Hubby

When I first saw this pattern I didn’t recognize the potential or versatility of it.  Then I did.  And that’s why I put parentheses around (swim).  During the covid lockdown, I couldn’t buy swimwear fabric nearby.  The pattern recommends nylon  or microfibre.  On-line shopping is difficult for me, I need to touch fabric, and see fabric.  But…….I have do have a stash.  Enough fabric to keep my sewing machine(s) humming for years.  But nothing suitable for a guy’s swim shorts.

I had a piece of linen look polyester, though, wrinkle free, and hubby approved the colour.  For shorts.

They were very easy to make, and yet the details lend a real professional look to these.  The side seam pockets are deep enough for “stuff” or hands, lol.  An elastic waist keeps them up, the topstitching keeps the elastic from rolling, and the drawstring looks great!  (It’s actually a shoe-lace in black and just the right shade of blue.)

Hubby wasn’t excited about these, and kept putting off the “photo shoot”.  He’s not a happy model even on his best days.  Once he had these shorts on, though, he stated they were comfortable, and he would wear them.  When I suggested actual swim shorts, he happily nodded.  Now to find the right fabric!

I’ll be reviewing a few more of Jalie’s new line, so be sure to subscribe to stay up to date.

I reviewed Laurent here.
