Scrap Happy with me; SewWhatYvette

Got scraps of fabric?  Can’t get to a fabric shop?  Need sewing ideas?  Want to meet up via Zoom?  Then Scrap Happy with me!

Here’s my plan for Scrap Happy

To begin with:

I’ll design a project that utilizes scraps of fabric.  I’ll make samples, write the instructions, create a PDF, then organize a Zoom session where you can join me, along with other sewing enthusiasts,  live.  During the Zoom session I’ll demonstrate how to make our project from my sewing room, using my sewing machine, laptop and cameras.  For your cost of $5 Canadian sent by e-transfer to my email address per class, and the downloadable, printable PDF will be included. There will be wearable, quiltables, home-dec, gifty things and more.

This event will be monthly, on the last Sunday of each month at 10 am.

At the moment, I am working with a free Zoom account, which allows 30 minutes of continuous  “airtime”. As soon as I reach 20 participants for the first Scrap Happy class, I’ll buy a Zoom license for the year which will give me unlimited class length.

I’ve been honing my “Zoom from home” skills with the loving help of 2 good friends and am now ready to take this step. Stitch by Stitch Kingston has me teaching via Zoom as well.  (I really miss in-person teaching, and will get back to the classroom when “normal” comes back, but for now, this is it).

Then:

A few days before the class I’ll send out the link so you can attend. For now, to register, send $5 to

yvettechilcott@yahoo.ca

or Paypal using the same email address.  I will email you a confirmation upon receipt.

I hope to automate the process through my blog’s newsletter subscription form, but for now it’s by email.  If you don’t subscribe, please do now.

The first session will be Sunday February 28 at 10 am.

Here is a Sample of a Scrap Happy Project:

This project is a great way to play with some of the built-in stuff your sewing machine has, too.

scrap strings of reds and pinks

I dug into my “strings” of pinks and reds in honour of upcoming Valentines day for this project, and used up some small scraps of Insulbrite as well.

Download my PDF here, and then please let me know what you think of this idea.  Strip Pieced Coasters
