Epic 2, my First Impression

I’m going to begin this post “Epic 2, my First Impression” with a disclaimer. It’s long.

I have loved Husqvarna/Viking machines for ever.  My mom sewed on one when I was a youngster and I recall her satisfaction with it as a fond memory.  Maybe that’s one of the reasons I love to sew.  Anyway. My business life began selling and teaching knitting machines and one of the brands I carried was “Studio by White”. distributed by Husqvarna/Viking.  Their sales manager suggested I consider selling their sewing machines.  It was an easy decision.  The rest is history.

I became an exclusive Husqvarna/Viking sewing machine dealer back in the day when the #1+ just came out, and I’ve remained loyal.  I admire the innovative technology to this day, and even after selling my business in 2014, I continue loving Husqvarna/Viking sewing machines and traded in my Designer Diamond for the new Epic in 2015.  Last week my hubby gifted me with the Epic 2!  He knows how much my sewing means to me and has been so supportive throughout my career.  Last week I packed up my Epic and traded it in for a brand new Epic 2!

The lighting is amazing.  At my age, 65 and some, I don’t see as clearly as I used to.  Particularly dark colours, but with the bright built-in lighting, I can see black thread on black fabric.  The original Epic had this as well.

The bobbin case is white.  OMG, who thought of that?  It’s brilliant!

The laser is genius!  It’s totally adjustable left to right and so is the thickness of the line.  I made a few microwave bowl cozies and used the laser very effectively.  No need to draw lines for the darts, dots were all I needed.

IDT!!!!!!!!!!!  Thank you!!!!!!!!!  I made a few earwarmer/headbands with 2 layers of polar fleece as Christmas gifts and didn’t even have to baste the 2 layers together before adding the binding. (There will be a tutorial soon) It also made sewing those bowl cozies smooth as could be.

The programable foot control is also genius!  It takes a bit of getting used to, but I’m beginning to love it!  There are 3 areas you can program, and you can choose!

I have no regrets!  I already admire the innovative technology that went into this fantastic addition to the Husqvarna/Viking line up.  I’m looking forward to spending some time at my dealer for lessons, something I did not get when I purchased my first Epic.

You’ll be seeing more like this as I get to know my new machine.
