Jalie’s Renee as Capri’s

Introducing Jalie’s Renee as Capri’s.  It’s summer, it’s hot, I LOVE pull-on capri’s (with a pocket, more on that later) in easy to wear and wash fabrics.

Jalie’s Renee is described on their website as: High-waist (at navel), pull-on cigarette pants with concealed elastic at the waist and darts at the back.  I reviewed it when it was introduced here.  I added pockets and wrote a tutorial here.  Can you tell that I LIKE this pattern?

Jalie's Renee as Capri's in Athletic wear fabric from Fabricland

I picked this remnant piece up in Fabricland’s bin for $3.  It was called “athletic fabric” and has amazing body, stretch and recovery.  It’s the weight of a lightweight scuba.

To determine the right length, I just held the front pattern piece to my body and marked a few inches below the bottom of my knee-cap, then added 1 inch for a hem..

As you can see, I used a reverse coverstitch to accent the seams and the hem.  This is to keep with that “athletic look”.   Sewing those seams with a lightning stitch on my Epic2 kept them stretchy. Then I coverstitched with the wrong side up over the opened seam allowance.  I was able to keep it open with my fingers as I stitched as I didn’t want to steam press this fabric.  I just serged the inseam, no coverstitch.

Can you imagine how hard it is to concentrate on holding in your tummy, standing straight, AND pushing the button on the remote for my camera?

Just so you know, I NEVER (well rarely) show back-side shots.  And, due to the fact that these fit my backside like leggings, NOBODY else but you will ever see this.  I wear long loose tops over leggings for modesty and comfort. Personally, I don’t need to show, or see this in public.  Lucky you.

Next will be a new top.  I’m thinking of hacking Michelle 3911 and will post when it’s completed.

Well, what do you think of Jalie’s Renee as capri’s?  Let me know if you decide to do it too.
