Scrap Happy Denim Wallet

It’s that time again, the last Sunday of the month, and my Scrap-Happy class on Zoom; Scrap Happy Denim Wallet!

The pattern is my own design, is fully lined with an inside pocket, closes with a zipper and has an exterior fully lined pocket for all those cards we seem to amass.  The outer pocket closes securely with either a snap or velcro, and I included an optional strap with a ring to hang your keys.

I made a very similar one a few years ago and use it as my main and only wallet.  Quite often I get compliments from cashiers when I pull it out to pay for stuff.

A few minor changes, and I have a new version.  It’s quick to make and can easily be made of scraps.  The largest piece of fabric is 6 inches square.  A recycled zipper closes it securely, and a salvaged split key ring makes a great loop for your keys. A “D” or “O” ring would work instead, or you could skip that ring tab entirely.

The zipper insertion is easy, so don’t be nervous, this scrap happy denim wallet is a great little project to “up” your sewing skills. An experienced sewist will find this quick and easy.
